Aubrey Manning follows a submarine dive to the world's longest mountain range, a mile underwater, to see how volcanoes shape the continents.

Mountains are among the most spectacular features of our planet. Aubrey Manning looks at an extraordinary theory about how they rise and fall.

Billions of years ago Earth was covered by a single ocean. Today nearly a third of the land is dry. Aubrey Manning follows a trail of clues from Bolivia to Alaska and New Zealand to find out how the change came about.

Among the active volcanos of Hawaii and Iceland, Aubrey Manning uncovers events deep within the planet that have reshaped the surface. What drives the Earth's restless volcanic activity?

Series exploring our understanding of the planet. Aubrey Manning travels to the jungles of Indonesia, the Rocky Mountains in Canada, the gorges of Western Australia and the African plains to illustrate that geology has a direct impact on evolution.

David Attenborough's First Life

Ep1 Arrival

(low res review)

Sir David Attenborough goes in search of the very first animals. His journey begins in a forest near his childhood home in Leicester.

In fifty years of broadcasting, Sir David Attenborough has travelled the globe to document the living world in all its wonder. Now, in the landmark series, David Attenborough's First Life, he completes his journey by going back in time to the roots of the tree of life, in search of the very first animals.

Attenborough's journey begins in a forest near his childhood home in Leicester, where a fossil discovery transformed our understanding of the evolution of complex life. Travelling to the fog bound coastline of Newfoundland and the Australian outback, Attenborough unearths the earliest forms of animal life to exist on Earth.

These bizarre and wonderful creatures are brought to life with the help of cutting edge scientific technology and photorealistic visual effects. From the first animal forms that moved to the first mouths that ate, these were creatures that evolved the traits and tools that allow all animals, including ourselves, to survive to this day.

Ep2 Conquest

(Low Res Review)

Sir David Attenborough goes in search of the very first animals. In Canada's Rocky Mountains, fossils document an explosion in animal diversity.

In fifty years of broadcasting, Sir David Attenborough has travelled the globe to document the living world in all its wonder. Now, in a landmark series, he completes his journey by going back in time to the very roots of the tree of life, in search of the very first animals.

Attenborough's journey continues in Canada's Rocky Mountains, where fossils document an explosion in animal diversity never seen before or since. Travelling from there to North Africa, the rainforests of Australia and the east coast of Scotland, Attenborough discovers how animals evolved to conquer not only the oceans but also the land and air.

These remote and fascinating creatures are brought to life as never before with the help of cutting-edge scientific technology and photorealistic visual effects. From the first large predators to the first legs on land, these were creatures that evolved the traits and tools that allow all animals, including ourselves, to survive to this day.

How to Grow a Planet

Ep.01 Life from Light

Professor Iain Stewart depicts the story of our planet. He reveals how the greatest changes to the Earth have been driven, above all, by plants. Here, Stewart journeys from the caves of Vietnam to the remote deserts of Africa. He sees how plants first harnessed light from the sun and created our life-giving atmosphere. He also uncovers the epic battle between the dinosaurs and the tallest trees on the planet.

Ep.02 The Power of Flowers

Professor Iain Stewart journeys to the remote islands of the South Pacific to track down the earliest flowers. In the deserts of Africa and rainforests of Vietnam, he sees how they brought brilliant colour to the most barren landscapes and sculpted the earth itself. He also learns how flowers drove the evolution of all animals - kick-starting our human story.

Ep.03 The Challenger

Professor Iain Stewart discovers the remarkable impact of just one plant: grass. On the savannah of South Africa he sees how grass unleashed a firestorm to fight their greatest enemy, the forests. He shows how cutting your finger on a blade of grass shows us how they transformed life in the oceans. In Senegal, he meets the cleverest chimps in the world.
